Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge:Aztec

Yesterdays Wardrobe Challenge was Aztec, which meant it was the perfect chance to wear my Aztec Dress. I got this fabric from Fabric-a-Brac and the dress is made with one of the patterns from Sew La Tea Do. I do really like this frock, but I don't wear it too often - I have decided I actually like it better without a belt (I think I'm coming to learn I don't have to wear a belt with EVERYTHING).
Here's a close up of the Aztec like fabric (well it reminds me of Aztec type patterns)
Well that's it for me today folks - I'm now on my Easter Holidays and will be having a four day weekend - hurrah!

Wednesday Wardrobe Challege: Urban Jungle

It's been a couple of weeks since I've done Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge - but I thought this week was the perfect week to get back into taking part. The theme was "Urban Jungle" which I thought was a great opportunity to wear my purple tiger print tights.
These are the most amazing tights I own, I have to admit they were pretty pricey but they have lasted a really long time. Here's the rest of my outfit - although I'm not really crazy about the outfit or the indoor photo.
I picked up this frock a while back from a clothes swap and whilst I like the idea of it - I'm not sure I actually like it. Perhaps its because its the wrong length? I'm not sure.
Last time I wore this necklace in a post someone asked for a close up shot - so here you all go!

OUTFIT DEETS:

Dress - Clothes Swap
Belt - Glassons
Necklace - Rose Street Markets, Melbourne
Tights - Calico Jacks, Wellington

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge: Birds

Today's Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge was "Birds" - I do have one frock with birds on it, but I put it onto day and I realised I just don't love it. So straight onto the clothes swap pile it goes!

Instead I wore a dress which has a pattern that kind of reminds me of feathers and I added some bird accessories. I don't think this photo of me is the best - but sometimes you just got to work with what you've got!
I added some bird themed accessories - a brooch and a necklace.

I was very lucky today - I received a Valentines package from Alicia,
including stickers, chocolate and jelly beans (oh and Hello Kitty of course)

You read that right folks - smokehouse BBQ potato chips chocolate! We haven't tried it yet, but it is intriguing.

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge and Waitangi Day

Yesterday was Waitangi Day so we had a mid-week day off work and it was EXACTLY what I needed.

In the morning Rich and I headed down to the waterfront for some of the celebrations that were taking place, unfortunately my camera is very temperamental. I took a whole bunch of photos but only a couple of them turned out. So annoying! I need to get a new camera sooner rather than later, but I always feel so intimidated when buying a new camera.

I did manage to get a great photo of the lagoon and also a photo of this awesome Kapa Haka group.

The Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge yesterday was "Blackest Black" which isn't that appropriate for summer, but it is kind of appropriate for Waitangi Day. You see, although the New Zealand flag is red, white and blue when people represent New Zealand they tend to wear black  .

I couldn't handle dressing entirely in black, that's just TOO much black for me, but I managed black shoes, tights, belt and cardi.
My hair looks terrible in this photo! Nearly time for another hair cut and colour I think. Here's a few close up pictures of my outfit that I took at home later on.

 OUTFIT DEETS:

Shoes & Tights - Glassons
Dress - Sourpuss Clothing
Belt - The Warehouse
Cardi - Hell Bunny (bought from a now defunct online store)
Necklace - Op shopped

After we had been to the waterfront to check out the Waitangi Day celebrations we went to one of our favourite restaurants for lunch - taco! It's seriously the best.

We spent most of the afternoon at home, but finished up our day by watching movies by starlight with friends in Waitangi Park. We watched a very New Zealand and very hilarious movie - Boy . I forgot to take my camera - so here's a couple of instagram photos.

If you're in New Zealand, I hope you had a great Waitangi Day.

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge: The Letter "A"

So it seems that for my weekend wardrobe challenge I'm going back to Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge - for the moment at least. It's highly likely I could end up doing the "Aussie Curves" challenge again as well. Basically when it comes to anything in relation to my wardrobe I'm inclined to change my mind at the drop of a hat.

Yesterday when it WAS actually Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge I had on an outfit I was most pleased with, however, I didn't get around to taking photos until late and when I did finally get around to it I discovered my camera batteries had gone flat so I couldn't take a photo anyway - epic fail.

So I decided to do wardrobe challenge again today - still based on the letter "A" the "A" being for the apples on my cardi.

However, to be honest - I'm not crazy about this outfit and its mostly the cardi. I bought it without trying it on, just snatched up the size "L" in the store thinking it will be a 12/14 and it should fit fine.

The problem with the cardi is that's its not really fitted and quite boxy and doesn't do much for my figure at all - I'm also not sure if it goes with this frock. Basically I'm not too crazy about this outfit.

Also I would have MUCH rather taken a photo outside but the weather has turned on us and its really blowing a gale at the moment which is making it nearly impossible to take photos outside. In fact this dress was a pretty poor choice for such a blustery day as the skirt is so big it kept getting blown around by the wind. Not a good day in general I think - but as they saying goes "tomorrow is another day".

Tights - Glassons

So instead of Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge - here's what I wore to work today.
Last night I got my hair cut and I've added a blue streak - but its hard to see in the photos!
Here's a close up of my accessories for the day - it's all about the beads!

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge: Nostalgia

Today's Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge is one of two from the lovely MaryLou Cinnamon - the theme is nostalgia.

For this one, I decided to go back to my teenage years and remember the early nineties and grunge.
I'm feeling a bit tired today and I just didn't seem to be able to get a good photo of my outfit - but you all get the general idea.
Can you tell that I'm feeling tired from this picture - but as always I still have a smile on my face!

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge: Barbarella Goes Back to the Future

So it seems that the regular Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge is back on track - today's challenge was pink and blue.

I could have done that challenge, I have pink and I have blue, I could have done that challenge pretty easily.

But I decided to stick with my original plan, which was to tackle a challenge from Sarah, namely "Barbarella goes back to the future".

However, a bikini isn't really office wear, so my look is more "Barbarella - Public Servant".
I thought the bronze pleather skirt and suede look boots are a little bit Barbarella.
I also thought the animal print tights are a little Barbarella.

Another day wearing fancy accessories made by fancy friends.
I had my smile fixed today - my filling is all repaired. Just as well it was pay day today!
Rich calls this my "Tina Turner" skirt - I think its rad.

So do I pass as Barbarella - Queen of public servants? It's not quite as glamorous as being the Queen of the galaxy I guess.

Boots - Avon
Tights - Equipt
Skirt & Cardi - Glassons
Top - From a friend's wardrobe clear out

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge: Attire to be worn whilst beating off cannibals

This weeks challenge comes from our very own Helga Von Trollop - attire to be worn whilst beating off cannibals. Slightly obscure sure - but If I am going to beat off cannibals I need two things from my outfit - first up I need it to be comfortable. So I decided to wear a pair of doc martins as you can pretty much wear these anywhere (and run in them if you need to) and also the most comfortable dress I own!

I also decided that I needed to look a little bit bad ass - that will account for all the black and skulls.
I wore my new sucre noir sweater clip and favourite skully scarf.
I wore my boots of course - they would totally help me fight of cannibals (not entirely sure how, but I'm sure they would)
I wore my bone bracelet and chunky ring.
I'm rather fond of this shade of lipstick at the moment - its an avon shade called "Rich Terracotta".
Finally - putting on my angry face to fight off all those cannibals.
Hope you're all having a super week xoxo

Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge:1970's

Today is Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge number two from CB at Citybirds nest - today's challenge was 1970's, which can only mean one thing - POLYESTER!

Luckily I LOVE polyester!

Rich currently has lectures on Wednesday nights, so I bought a wee tripod to see if I could take some photos myself - but I have to admit they are pretty rubbish compared to the ones Rich usually takes.

Also I've decided after looking at the photos I took with the tripod that our apartment may be slightly lop-sided. These pictures turned out so wonky!

I guess that's what you get for living in an "old" art deco apartment!

Here's a close up of the fabric of this dress - which I love so much! This dress comes with a wee story actually, I seen a dress identical to this in one of the "vintage" stores in town, I LOVED the print, but the price they were asking just seemed silly. So I decided we weren't meant to be together!

Then a few weeks ago I was op shopping at opportunity for animals and they had the EXACT same dress for $7 and it fit me perfectly - I bought it straight away and left with a smile on my face.
Turns out I even have the perfect tights to wear with this dress - I haven't worn these tights for a long time as they are a bit breezy for winter.

But now its spring so they are just perfect.
I haven't worn this guy for a LONG time - so I thought I'd wear him today. Rich made him for me out of fimo (polymer clay) YEARS ago.
Here's an up close photo of me not smiling - yes, sometimes I'm actually NOT smiling - hard to believe I know.
Finally - here's a close up of the animal friends that came with me to work today - a giraffe and a deer.
So I was hoping by now that Wednesday Wardrobe Challenge would be back up and running - but it doesn't seem to be the case. So if you have any ideas for a wardrobe challenge do let me know and I'll add them to the list.

Next week I'll be taking up Helga's challenge - 'attire to be worn whilst beating off cannibals' (I'm thinking "bad ass chic" for this one).

I also still have challenges to complete from Sarah, Mary and Curtise.

So if you have any ideas - no matter how simple (for example wear green) or how weird - let me know and I'll see if I can complete them all.

Finally - before I sign off I thought I'd show you my swipe card seen as I usually seem to be wearing it in my outfit posts. At work we get the standard office swipe card with our name on it. I decided to pimp mine out with Hello Kitty - because I'm TOTALLY a grown up.
