I had been talking about wanting to go to the seal colony in Island Bay for absolutely ages but I had been putting it off until I got myself a decent pair of hiking boots. A few weeks back I went out to see Fiona at Island Bay and at the time I bought some decent boots from Kathmandu - then a decent sunny day happened and I thought what a brilliant time to see some seals...
Well almost - turns out it wasn't time for the seals to be at the colony yet - it was still too early as they don't usually turn up till May.
But that's ok as it was still a beautiful day and a nice walk - even if we had to share the track for 4x4 Vehicles and Motorbikes (yes I am a walking snob - tracks should be for people and mountain bikes!)

The Conor & Sue Farewell Tour
So two of my bestest friends are taking off to Britain today (well actually it's Singapore today, then a few weeks in Thailand and finally Britain!) but a couple of weeks before they left Conor and Sue undertook a "Farewell Tour" of New Zealand to catch up with friends and Whanau.
So here's some photo's of the crazy times we had when they were here - it's pretty sad that they have moved overseas but then it's just more inspiration for me to us to save money to get to Britian to see them!
Although I know I will forget this in the future I vow never to play bowling with Sue again - she's too damn good!! I can't play bowling with people who KNOW how to bowl - I need to play with people who can hardly hit a pin like myself!

Do you Swap?
Sounds like a loaded question huh? Well get your mind out of the gutter! On Craftster there is a page of threads which are "swaps" basically someone organises the swap and sets you up with a partner. You recieve an e-mail from them and they tell you their likes and dislikes and you send them an e-mail saying the same - you have a certain timeframe to craft your swap partner some goodies then you send the whole lot off on the due date.
I've been wanted to get involved in a swap for a while and finally a NZ swap turned up so I thought I'd give it a go. My swap partner was a woman in Whakatane and here are are few things I crafted for her (although I didn't take photos of everything).
Firstly - here's the box that all the goodies came in. In case you're wondering my craftster screen name is Monkey Girl (maybe she ran out of the letter "i" and had to use a "u" instead? I like it anyways).
Inside the box - crafty treats galore!! This is a kilt pin with a week monkey on it - fits my screen name and the "super cute" catergory.
Some "sexy lady" incense - not sure why this was in there but it smells nice!
My favourite item a CUTE canvas with a pretty skull on it - how fantastic:)
I told my partner that I would like anything that had been crocheted - so she made me this headband and that silver thing you can see is a wee skull bead!

This morning I recieved a fantastic parcel of swap goodies from my partner and as I have been sick over the past few days it cheered me up so much! Here's what I got:)

Next is some red & black skull earrings and a necklace too - she does reisin work so I think she made all the red & black beads herself
Some gloves with cute bows! The beads around the finger say "Rockabilly" because I told her I like Rockabilly style.
This is a wee reisin hairclip that she made - not sure if it's quite my style - I will have to think about it...but I like it.
I heard from my swap partner today and she is a tattoo artist - she told me she has been wearing the tiara around the studio but her partner is not impressed. I LOVE it!!

Some Crafts for my friend Sue
My friends Sue and Conor came to visit Wellington recently as part of their "Farewell Tour" before they take off to Britain to live for a few years.
It was Sue's birthday months ago - but Sue, Conor and I have an ongoing tradition of giving each other our birthday presents MONTHS late. It's kind of a nice tradition - because you know that sometime months and months after your birthday a random present is going to turn up in your mailbox and make you smile.
Here's the two things I made for Sue's birthday, the first is a soft toy Poo. I remeber telling a few people about this and they thought I meant a Pooh (as in Winnie) but I meant an actualy Poo - actually it was decided on the night that this guy is more of a turd than a Poo.
The second thing I made for Sue was a cross-stitch and seen as we both grew up in the naki I thought she would appreciate this red-neck themed design.
