We have a lot of earthquakes in New Zealand and sadly Christchurch isn't the first of our cities to be impacted by a big earthquake. In the 1931 Napier was hit by a really major earthquake which pretty much destroyed the entire city.
When the city was rebuild it as in an art deco style and now it's the art deco capital of the world.
I haven't visited Napier for years and the last time I went it was a work trip, so I am really looking forward to spending some time in the city and seeing the old buildings and also the National Aquarium, the old prison and also this cute cinema we found online called The Globe Theatrette.

I remember watching a travel show visiting Napier a few years ago, the Deco buildings were just gorgeous.
