Creepy Cute Swap - What I made
So you guys may remember that I recently too part in a "Creepy Cute" swap on Crafter - I posted a while back what I received from my partner and now she has received her package I thought I would post what I have made. This is the first craft swap I've taken part in for a LONG time and it was pretty fun - so now I've signed up for four more! I know it sounds like a lot of crafting - but taking up swaps again has been really good for my creativity. I think I'm just a person who works better to deadlines - so doing swaps stops me from procrastinating and gets me crafting.
This is my first time ever making a fabric collage - I quite like it and I think that I could make a cuter, sweeter version of this as well.
I made the rosette too, its the first time I've made anything like this before. It's kind of big, but I think it would look great on a winter jacket or blazer.
I also made this brooch - I've made similar versions of this before as little ghosts. I think that this guy is more of a little devil than ghost.
I also made something I have been wanting to make for a very long time - a cape! I love the skull fabric I used to line the cape with - I picked it up in a op shop for a couple of dollars.
Finally - I made a bunting from this ghost fabric which I picked up on the same op shopping trip I picked up the green skull fabric. I still have a lot of this fabric left and I'm considering making a tutu out of it.

New Shoes!
Recently I've managed to pick up a whole bunch of flats at next to nothing at various op shops in town and I thought I'd share them all.
Next up is YELLOW SHOES!! I say this because yellow has always been one of my least favourite colours. Along with orange. But lately I've been drawn to yellow for some insane reason, I even bought a yellow cardi on the same op shopping trip. Madness. Shoes $3 from Opportunity for Animals in Kilbirnie.
Finally - I saved the best for last! I bought these AMAZING shoes at the Retro Room Soiree a few weeks back. As soon as I arrived I spied these beauties but I assumed they would be too tiny for me. But they were my size and fit perfectly and are SUPER CUTE . Shoes from Retro Room $10.
Anyone else out there made any fabulous finds whilst op shopping lately?
Of course, all of the shoes are flats, if you follow my blog you'll know I am pretty much incapable of wearing heels!
First up is this kind of furry purple nana like shoes - I like them a whole bunch. I don't have many purple clothes but I will work them into my wardrobe somehow. They cost me a grand total of $8 at the Hospice Shop in Kilbirnie and had apparently just arrived in. Perfect timing!

Domo Pillow!
When we lived in Taipei, we visited the most EPIC craft store called "Mama Bear" - I didn't have a whole lot of the money at the time. But I did buy a few things from the store including a DIY Domo pillow making set.
The best thing about the Domo pillow? It doubles as a Domo costume - as modelled by me. Gotta love Monday night silliness.
I sat in our tiny apartment stitching away at my Domo pillow - I appliquéd on his face and then started to sew up one side of the pillow. But seriously - have you ever tried to sew up a whole pillow by hand? At best its tedious!
So Domo was put away and I didn't see him again until my friend Lisa came to visit from Taipei and bought with her my few remaining bits and pieces - including Domo.
Now I own a sewing machine, I was able to finish up my Domo pillow pretty quickly and here it is as modelled by our couch.
The best thing about the Domo pillow? It doubles as a Domo costume - as modelled by me. Gotta love Monday night silliness.

Matchbox Swap
I recently took part in an extremely simple craft swap - a matchbox swap. All you have to do is decorate a matchbox and fill it with tiny goodies (craft related) and sent it off to your partner.
For this swap I actually had a partner which was in New Zealand which saved a whole lot on postage.
She loves her Pullip doll, so I decided to go the ultra kawaii cute with a Hello Kitty matchbox.
Heres a quick shot of some of the things inside the box - its full of cutesy little things.

Taipei International Floral Expo
One of the last things I did when I was in Taipei was to visit the Taipei International Floral exposition. This expo was a huge event during my time in Taipei with advertising absolutely everywhere and it also seemed a whole lot of controversy was part of the expo. Here's a few pictures of the expo as I first entered and the all important ticket.
The first part of the expo consisted of a variety of floral displays, which were a little difficult to see as there were so many people at the expo. Here's a few pictures of my favourites though.
The floral expo of course needed a set of mascots, and here they are, a cross between flowers, musicians and general asian cuteness.
Once you get past the intial displays of the exhibition, you reach a wider open area full of all kinds of larger floral displays.
A lot of different countries had their own pavillons at the expo. Here's the first and most impressive one I visited. Its a Shanghai style garden from China.
Next up I visited the "Pavilion of Culture" which was less about the flowers and more about the history of Taiwan. The first area I went to check out was about the history of the indigenous people of the area - including the picture below, which I thought was kind of strange.
Next up was a visit to a pavillion which contained all kinds of Taiwanese arts and crafts.
First of all was the fruit carving, including the most incredible watermelon carving.
This area also hard a DIY area for kids to design their own plates.
Then it was time to see more and more and more flowers whilst walking to the other side of the expo to see some more of the international displays.
Speaking the international displays, here is a few of them in order - Palau, Hong Kong, Oman, Canada, Chile, USA, Bhutan, Thailand, Greece, Hawaii (which had a different display to the rest of the USA for some reason) and Malaysia.
Taipei Story house is somewhere I had been wanting to visit for a very long time. Rich and I tried to visit it one day, but it had become part of the floral expo so we couldn't visit without paying to go to the expo so we decided to give it a miss. So I was pretty excited to visit it when I visited the floral expo, however, I was disappointed to find out it was shut by the time I got there. At least I got to take some photos.
Finally it was time for the eco art/pavilion of new fashion. The eco art is a pretty cool building as it's built of recycled bottles. I lined up for the pavilion not realising that you had to take a tour - the tour guide was speaking Chinese of course. The inside of the pavilion was an ode to vogue magazine and various other corporates - which isn't really my scene.
