Taranaki Adventures: Coastal Walkway

Hey Folks - I'm having a mid week day off as today is Waitangi Day. Monday and Tuesday were pretty busy this week so a mid week break is just perfect.

Today is the day I share with you the final photos of our Christmas/New Years holidays (good things take time right?).

I took these photos of the coastal walkway in New Plymouth on New Years Ever.  Rich, Nankz, Paul and I spend the morning hanging out in the city and in the afternoon we headed out to do part of the coastal walkway before a spot of New Years Eve supermarket shopping.

As you can see, it was another stunning day in Taranaki, look at those blue skies! The walkway was really amazing as well, great views and the whole walk was basically all paved so it was really accessible to pretty much anyone.

I especially loved the bridge - it kind of looks like a dinosaur rib cage? Well to my eyes at least!

Taranaki Adventures: Festival of Lights at Pukekura Park

Just a short post from me tonight with even more of our Taranaki - I've almost finished posting about this trip! One night whilst we were staying at our batch in Onaero with friends we decided to head out to dinner in New Plymouth and follow it up with a walk in Pukekura Park.

Pukekura Park is a city park which I guess is a little bit like New Plymouth's botanical gardens. During the summer the park always host the "festival of lights" in which the park is lit up with all kinds of displays.

I have to admit I hadn't been to the park for a few years for the light display - it did seem like each year was the same display, which is kind of boring when you see the same thing year after year.

But this year I was totally blown away - honestly the photos don't really do the light displays justice (my camera just isn't that fancy), but trust me, it was an amazing display. The perfect thing to do on a summer evening after a dinner out.

My favourite lights were the jelly fish, they look cool in these photos, but in real life they are exceptional.

I hope you've all been having a great weekend, I'm spending most of this weekend at a "sew a vintage pattern in a weekend course"! It's pretty exciting, no doubt I will show you the results very soon.

Goodbye New Zealand!

Last Thursday Rich and I flew out of New Plymouth to begin new adventures in Taipei. My mum dropped us off at the airport and bought us our last New Zealand hot chocolate (hot chocolates just taste better in New Zealand). Also, here's a photo of Mum and I at the airport just before take off.

Adventures in New Plymouth

Last Saturday I headed up to New Plymouth with my mum and also to do some shopping for things which can be hard to buy in asia (like stockings that fit).

Whislt I was in New Plymouth I managed to catch up with my friends Nilanka and Carolyn, we went out for a really great lunch at Chaos cafe. Good times.
