Some summer fun times

This post is just a bit of this and a bit of that - just a few of the things we've been up to over the last couple of weeks of summer. Apparently summer "officially" finished yesterday, but its still lovely warm here.

A few weeks ago the "Rainbow Warrior III" was in town and Greenpeace was holding tours through the ship. We waited for half and hour to have a look on board (apparently some people in Auckland waited 3 hours for a tour so we were lucky). The ship is super fancy and has a huge mast as its a sailing ship 80% of the time.

The Wellington Fringe Festival is on at the moment and for a while there was a sort of shipping container art gallery and bar on the waterfront.
Here's a couple of the art work - the one with the piano was very interactive, you could speak into the microphone and it would play back you voice in all kinds of weird ways.

More from the Fringe Festival - this time in the form of tape art! Tape artists were working for a few days to make this display and then it was all pulled down by whoever wanted to get involved at a certain time. It was pretty rad.
Hope you've all been having a fun weekend so far xoxox

I was living in Auckland when the first Rainbow Warrior was bombed - it was so shocking, no one could believe such a thing could happen! Huge news world wide. I would love to tour RW3 now. Don't you just love the summer art and music season? I would love to have a sticky at the container installation:) xoxo

I remember the Rainbow Warrior case well. Love the photo of the mast against the blue blue sky, how interesting to get to have a look on board.
The art installations look amazing, I really like the piano and the giant tea cups! xxxx

This looks fun! My step Dad was a docent on a large Naval carrier and we did a tour once, it was really mind blowing mainly because it was HUGE! What is up with the saucer art, only cool if they all gently touch each other and making pretty noises:)
