Ange's Hen's Weekend in Martinborough

So a couple of weekend's ago was my friend Ange's hen's weekend in Martinborough - to be honest - I don't think I have ever actually been away on a "girls weekend" before. My friend Fiona and I headed over there together in her car, unfortunatly, the weather wasn't so good and when we arrived no one else was at the house we were staying at so we decided it was time for some hot drinks and some lunch.

We went to an amazing little cafe and I was very excited to get a real chai latte when I ordered one - rather than the usual frothy milk and syrup you usually get in cafe's!
On first glace the house that had been booked was pretty cool - although these photo's were actually taken the next day in the beautiful sunshine, not when we first turned up.

The original plan for the day was to head out to do some golf cross - but the bad weather soon put a stop to that idea and instead we decided on a self guided winery tour. Here's some photo's from some of the wineries - some of them have some amazing art!

After the winery tour madness was over, it was time to return to the house, firstly for Fiona's nutriemetics demo and secondly to hand over to Ange her stunning outfit for the evening...

Next it was out to town for dinner at a Thai Restaurant, it's a pretty tiny town, so a huge bunch of girls going out for dinner with one dressed as a circa 1950's bride was in all likihood a site to behold for the locals!
Later on...back at the house...it was time for Kat's birthday cake - seen as her birthday was the same day as Ange's hen's night.
Then it was time for a few more drinks...

Followed by some chocolate game madness...

...and more drinks..

Then it was pinata time! I decided that as my hen's night present for Ange I would make her a Pinata (I like to make things anyways so it seemed like an obvious choice). Although small, Ange proved to be rather deadly with a golf club - the pinata didn't stand a chance!

Graces' Birthday Cards

Recently, my friend Grace thought she could sneakily have her birthday without telling any of us. Unfortunatly for her - the magic of facebook revealed to all of us it was in fact her birthday!

Of course, birthdays require presents and Grace is of course on of the craftiest people I know who makes the most amazing cards out of old and delightfully cheesy Mills and Boons Covers.

So I thought for her birthday I would make he some cards - which you can see below! They were pretty simple but came out really well. I bought a child's "wind and willows" book from the Salvation Army and cut out some of the photo's and sewed them onto card stock. I then added a few buttons to the cards - I was really happy with the final cards and Grace has told me she has already sent one off to a friend.

Chocolate Buffet

My friend Hiliare heard all about a mysterious "chocolate buffet" that was happening at the Duxton - actually when I say mysterious I mean that I have never heard of it before - everyone else seemed to know all about it.

Anyways we decided to gather together a bunch of the craft club girls and see what the big deal was all about.

Hiliare with a "white chocolate Margarita Mousse" - Tasty
A "Chili" hot chocolate
You know that moment you realise you can't eat any more? This is that moment for me...a bit of a poor effort really.
Taking a much deserved break from chocolate...as you can see below the desserts really went on and on and on....

Grace and a chocolate truffle...
Hiliare trying to fit in one last piece of chocolate...

Oh yeah - and the menu we didn't notice until the end which gave you a "recommended" order in which to eat things in!

My Litle Pony Recon Continues

So I now have my "midnight blue" hank of pony hair from "My Little Pony Hair dot com" so it was time to start the "re-hairing" of bluey.

It was actually a LOT easier to re-hair a my little pony than I thought but it is VERY time consuming - it may be a while before blue has a full mane of hair - but I did make surprisingly good progress with the re-hairing over the weekend.

Below are some of the progress photo's - I have to admit - I do feel a tad sorry for bluely being removed from his body for so long, but it will be worth it when they are back together.

There is something distinctly creepy about this photo - which was taken when the first few strands had been completed.

From this photo it looks as if the re-hairing is almost done - sadly no - if you were to flick the mane in the other direction you would see just how bald poor bluey still is.
Just a view of the length of the pony hair - clearly bluey will need a haircut to complete the "look" before I am finished.

Burrito Cake!

As a "crafty" type - I am always most in awe of crafty things that I think I cannot do myself (although if I actually gave those crafty things a go - who knows what I might achieve).

Anyways, searching the Internet today I came across a flicker site of a woman who makes the most amazing cakes.

My favourite, of the said cakes was the "Burrito Cake" and it's not a cake made from tortilla's - it's a cake made from icing and cake and all the usual ingredients but shaped to look like a burrito on corn chips with a side of Salsa.

I have a friend in America who is a talented cake making type who said she could make this type of cake, which makes me think she is some sort of super talented cake making super pro or something.

Anyways - see the link below to check out the amazing burrito cake!
