Snakeskin Maudella

I made another Maudella dress a while back - this time in a shiny, snakeskin knit fabric. I have to admit - I didn't like the dress the moment I made it. I thought it was too much and not flattering. But I decided I had to wear it at least once.
Sorry the picture is such poor quality - we took it perhaps a little but too late and my camera couldn't cope (to be honest it can't cope with much). I tried to fix it up on pic monkey a bit, but this is the best I could do.

I know, I know - we could have taken another photo another day. But I think this dress is just so horrible I never, ever want to wear it again. It basically brings out the worst, most negative body image thoughts ever.

Here's a close up of the fabric of the dress - gold snakeskin, I thought it would work out and be awesome. Turns out its the worst dress in the world.
Sorry for a downer post all - I think I will go and cut up/burn this hideous dress before it totally destroys my self esteem.

Hope you all have a great weekend xoxo

Bummer! I hate when that happens. It looks fine in the pictures, but if it makes you feel bad then there's no point wearing it. Maybe you could cut it up and use the fabric for something else? Maybe something that's not clothes.

Burn it! I'm kidding but if you hate it get rid of it, life is too short for any frock that doesn't make you feel FAB! I hope you have a great weekend!

It looks like a nice dress in the pics Trees, but if it makes you feel that bad, it has to go! Could you maybe make a top or skirt out of it? Or something else? xx

You really look fine to me....but if it doesn't make you feel good then it's not worth wearing. Just a shame after all the effort you put into making it! Xx

From what I can see, it looks fine, Trees! I love the mad 80s vibe of the gold snakeskin, very disco-tastic.
BUT if it's not for you, then don't wear it. Could you cut it in half and use either the top or the skirt as separates? If you thoroughly hate it, then maybe not...
Never let one item of clothing affect your self-esteem, darling - it's only one dress! We can all put something on that doesn't flatter and emphasises the bits of our body we are less keen on. The answer is to laugh, think "bloody hell, I'm not wearing that", and move on to something which makes you look and feel as gorgeous as you really are! xxxxx

Hahah XD

Not laughing at your dress but at your text :D
The dress looks okay but if you hate it, perhaps you can give it to someone who likes it :3?

The dress definitely looks like a brilliant make to me, but as the others so wisely say, if it's making you feel miserable chop it up and make it into a disco-tastic tote bag! xxx

First of all I would say you're very brave posting something that you don't like to your blog. Anything that I don't like doesn't make it to the blog or even out if my sewing room. So I think congratulations are in order there! Secondly, are there any ways you could adapt it to make it wearable? Could it become a top? Or perhaps a change in neckline? Well done also, on finishing it - I have finished anything in far too long!

Can't be helped, darl, sometimes we pick a pattern that isn't flattering, or the fabric is wrong the the pattern...dunno HOW many times I've done that! I hate it when I've wasted good fabric though, but it happens ALL THE BLOODY TIME! Forget about it! NEXT! XXX

I think it looks quite funky on you, but if you hate it then it's definitely not a keeper. Hope you find something to do with the fabric that you like though!

before you bin it, try changing the neckline to a Vee. tighten the skirt to a pencil style, but with a side slit.
I think it just needs more vertical lines.
All the best!
