Wednesday Wardrobe Post - Bows!

This weeks Wednesday Wardrobe post is a little late - Rich and I went to the film archive last night to watch classic New Zealand Film - Ngati. I've been wanting to see this film for a long time so I jumped at the chance to see it on the big screen. Plus with a film society membership - films at the archive are only $6 which is a real bargain in this town!

Back to the wardrobe challenge - this week was bows and I managed to incorporate a few into this outfit.

Shoes - Number 1 Shoe Warehouse

Yarn Bombed!!

This rather awesome sculpture is called "Tripod" and was created by Weta Workshop (the folks responsible for the special effects in Lord of the Rings and other fancy films).

Weta Workshop is based here in Wellington (so they are making the new Hobbit films in my wee city!).Recently when I was walking past Tripod I realised that it had been yarn bombed and was now wearing a set of rather awesome legwarmers.

I guess we all have to keep warm now its winter - someone must have been thinking poor tripod was getting a wee bit cold.

Ric Rac Rose Rings

Just a quick post for tonight - on the crafty adventures of Thursday last week. I've previously mentioned a rather lovely store we have in Newtown called Juniper where the owner Mindy holds monthly craft classes.

I have been meaning to attend a class since I arrived home and this past Thursday I FINALLY made it along.

The classes are "lucky dip" so you don't know what you are going to make until you arrive which is kind of cool concept.

This month the class was making ric rac rose rings (try and say that quickly five times) or you could also make hairclips or brooches.

The photo above is of me making a ric rac rose whilst wearing a ric rac rose ring. Its from the Juniper website and you can find out more about the craft night here - theres another photo of me on the blog too - look out for the pink hair extensions & blue tights!

Rich's Photo Challenge

At the moment, Rich isn't studying, so he has decided to do a 30 day photo challenge. Last Sunday I joined him on his search to find a "photo-of-the-day".

On this particular day his inspiration was the street art in the alleyway behind the Wellington Opera House. I love street art so decided to take a few photos as well.

I think my favourite is the last one - bear vs. shark! If you want to check out Rich's 30 day photo project you can find it here on his blog "Rich Made This".

Kawaii Cuteness

Recently I signed up for a Kawaii matchbox swap on swap bot - I haven't used swap bot for a while but I thought it was time I gave it another go.

The swap I joined is a Kawaii Matchbox swap - here's my match box all decorated. I covered a matchbox in some left over kawaii writing paper I had and added a wee bit of lace at the edges.
Here's the inside of the box, I picked up most of the contents from Japan City, our local Japanese import store.

Here's the contents of the wee box - Hello Kitty Charm, stickers, erasers and earrings.

Green with envy

I haven't gone completely crazy with green hair dye - this is a wig that I wore to our friends Ross and Shelley's party last night. In case you haven't guessed the party theme was "green".
I picked up this wig for the grand price of $5 at a local Asian import store (2Cheap on Willis Street for Wellingtonians reading this) and I was actually pretty chuffed with it. In fact, when we were walking to meet some other friends in town to get a lift to the party a lady yelled out "Babe! I love the hair!".

I did mean to get more photos of the party - but I just didn't get there. Which is a pity as Ross and Shelley did an amazing job!

Maybe next time I visit the hairdressers I should get green extensions....

1950's Swap!

Another break from the epic colletion of Sydney pictures! Only one more of those posts to go - phew! They take a lot of time.

I just wanted to share this sneak peak with all of you - I recently signed up for a 1950's swap on craftster. I've decided to share the early stages of one on my projects for the swap. Even if my partner sees this post I think it will be ok as this sexy lady is going to change so much before she is finished.

I really love the way this photo worked out - I love the way the light is falling.

In other news, I bought a brand new sewing machine! It hasn't arrived yet as its from a one day specials website. I can't wait until it arrives.

Have a great weekend all xoxox

Sydney - Day Three - The Blue Mountains

On our third day in Sydney we decided it was time to get out of the city and head to the Blue Mountains. We took a train ride to Katoomba, which is a couple of hours out of Sydney.

Katoomba is a pretty cute little town - I saw these cute biscuits and cupcakes in a bakery window.
Here's a cute photo of a gate at one of the backpackers in town - its made from woollen pomp pomps. We walked from town to the viewing platform for the Blue Mountains and here there are - so beautiful!

After the lookout, Rich and I headed out to Scenic World which has a few rides you can do to admire the scenery. First up for us was the steepest railway in the world! When we went on I thought I was going to lose my bag - it was SERIOUSLY Steep!!

We also did the Scenic Cableway and Scenic Skyway at Scenic World. I couldn't take any photos on the Scenic Cableway because it was too full! But here's some photos from the scenic skyway - it has some pretty amazing views.

Finally, on the way back to the train station we saw a Kookaburra!
