Finally!!! Christchurch photos!

Well - finally a week later I have had the chance to put up the photos of our weekend in Christchurch (which already seems like a long time ago!).

These are some photos taken by the beach/pier - I can't remeber whether the beach was called New Brighton beach or just Brighton beach - either way it was a beautiful winter day and a great day to do a winter beach walk.

Just a couple of cheesy shots of us on the Tram - we took the Tram on the second day we were there - we should have really taken it on the first day - because on the second day we had already had a good walk around the central city and had seen the majority of things that the Tram drove past! Still it was a fun novelty - not every day you get to ride a tram.

A few photo's taken around the Avon River (including some near the bridges) - I have to say the Avon doesn't really cut the mustard compared to the Waikato - but it's a cute little river - and it has punting which is pretty cool.

Just a few photo's of us hanging out in cathedral square - we visted the catherdral and climbed the stairs to the top of the tower.

We went out last night for dinner again to say bye bye to our friend Greg...he's off to go and work in Manukau...but at least he's going to live in Auckland or Hamilton so I know that I can catch up with him when I go up there to visit other people:)

It's kind of good he has a day off as it means he will be able to go and books some of the film festival films we want to see over the weekend - It's so going to be a weekend of movies - awesome.

Last night we went and had dinner with Jaimee for her birthday at a Japanese place called Hede on Cuba street - it was so yum - we will so be going back there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JAIMEE!

It's my friend Jaimee's birthday today - we're off to meet her for Japanese food somewhere on Cuba Street tonight :)

Time for an update...

Well I know normally by now I would have the photo's from Christchurch up but unfortunatly I've just not had any time to do it - hopefully I will have time over the weekend but just so busy right now I am getting pretty stressed out about everything.

Work is really busy at the moment and a full time position has come up so I will need to do a new CV to apply for it, I've also fallen behind in my readings for my study already as I had to wait so long for the book to turn up, trying to sort out Ange and Brendon's building contract as well...argh!

Plus the film festival has started and there are all these films I want to see - right now I really just feel like there is not enough hours in the day.

I know I seriously need to relax but it's just so hard right now with so much to do!

Just one more thing - it's Rich's final day at New World today!! He's starting his new job next Monday the 31st.

I'm in Christchurch this very minute!

Well Rich and I are sitting in an internet cafe in Christchurch right this minute - I couldn't find the Illicit store in Chch so decided to look up the address on the interweb - have prolly already walked past it and not noticed!

Today has been such a beautiful day down here so pretty stoked - have been to the Cathedral and walked all the stairs to the top of the tower, checked out some very cool markets, been to the gardens and generally chill-laxed out in the garden city.

Tommorrow will be punting along the Avon River and taking the Tram around town.

Yah for weekends away:)

The Fimo Empire Begins!!

Kat has offered to sell some of our crafty things at Triangle and she let me know yesterday that she has already sold two fimo brooches in the last week!

In other news - Rich has now signed up for his new job and he starts on the 31st of July - today is his last Friday at New World - which means it will be the last Friday night he's stuck working till 9pm which has to be a good thing.

His other news is he has finally booked in to get his tattoo done at the start of August!

My news is that one of our team members resigned yesterday - bad news for the team as a whole but good news for me as there will now be a permanant job in my team which I can apply for!

Also my textbook for my course has finally arrived - I am going to pick it up after work today on my way to meet the girls after work.

Well I best be off - but just one thing - I'M GOING TO CHRISTCHURCH THIS WEEKEND!

Thank you SO much Marth

I recieved such a nice surprise at work yesterday as I was struggling to make it through a long Monday afternoon.

I got a phonecall from reception and went upstairs to discover some beautiful birthday flowers from Marth!

Yah! Thank You:D

Well yesterday was my birthday and I had a good night out last night to celebrate - first of all went out to dinner at Harem and had some yummy Mezze platters and then afterwards some of us headed over to 24 Hour Party People at the San Fransico Bath House. I've been pretty tired today(after all I am getting old) but it was a very fun night out and always here's the pictures!

It's my birthday eve!

Yesterday I got a couple of more cards in the mail - one from my parents and one from my brother and also a package from Carolyn but I am being good and waiting until tommorrow to open them.

Last night we had a stall at Kraftwerk and man it was absolutely PACKED!! We didn't seem to sell as much as I was hoping too - mostly because it was so packed and so dark and the stall next to us was real busy and blocking our stuff:( I left a little early as there were three of us there to manage the stall and not that much space....so will have to pop in and see Kat over the weekend and pick up my fimo and beaded stuff and see how I went.

Well I best get ready for work - but I have to say it doesn't feel like a Friday - my routine feels all out of wack after going away Monday and Tuesday.

Happy Birthday Craig!

Well it was actually Craig's Birthday yesterday - I texted him to ask him yesterday what he was doing for his birthday today...opps....not flash considering how long we have know each other..but nevermind...he told me his parents got him a deep fryer which seems like the most perfect Craig present even - it's criminal that he manages to stay thin!

Anyways - as you have noticed yes - I am back from Queenstown and I had a great time (well as good a time as you can have when you're away for work). I got to go on a jet boat, see some of the most beautiful scenery and get on TV - pretty good couple of days really. Yes I do have photos but I haven't had a chance to get them on the computer but they will be up on the blog sometime in the next few days.

When I got home I found that yes I have been accepted for my Graduate Diploma in Women's Studies at Massey and I had my study materials and my ID card so that's all falling into place. The course relys quite heavily on a textbook so I am going to see if I can hunt that down at Bennett's or Dymocks as I need it to do my first weeks readings.

My Student ID has also arrived just in time for the film festival - yah - student priced films:D

Also when I got home I had a postcard from Simon from his travel's to the USA! Wicked!

Well I best get going - I have to organise all my crafts for Kraftwerk tonight before I take off to work.

My Weekend!

What did I get up to over the weekend? Well it all began with drinks and dinner with a group of mates because the lovely Sarah was visiting from Auckland. It was awesome to catch up as always and I was really interested to hear she is now doing a Diploma in Brewery part time - how cool!! Anyways there's a phot above of Sarah, Nat and I at Midnight Expresso.

On Saturday I finally had a haircut - I have been waiting to have one forever but it got to the stage where my hair was giving me a headache so it was time for the chop - and I have to say it looks a lot better too.

The it was time for the usual Saturday walk/gelato/gossip session with Jess and Ange along the waterfront and it was a stunning day - so stoked considering it felt a bit like it had been raining for weeks (although it hadn't).

After the walk I went to finally pick up my Doc Martins boots with my birthday money and Ange came along for a walk as well to find a bus to take home - I have to say that the boots are wicked!

Ange and I then ended up having a tea and further gossip at the Dixon Street Cafe:)

Rich and I were then at a bit of a loose end as to what to do for the rest of the night - I had orinally planned to spend that night with Marth but then she decided not to come down because it was too cold (and fair enough too!).

So we decided to have a "date night" which was really fun - went out at one of those restaurants that we always say we should go too - a place called "Zing" on Wakefield Street - it was very good food! Then we attempted to see something at the movies but there was really nothing on we wanted to watch as we left dinner a bit late...but I did get a bit distracted by the CD and DVD store in Courtney Central and bought a couple of DVD's and the new TV on the Radio CD with the last of my birthday money.

We ended up grabbing a coffee at Krazy Lounge and then heading home to watch one on the DVD's (it was really good - "Ed Wood" about the worst movie director in the world - it was directed by Tim Burton and the lead was played by Jonnie Depp so I didn't think it could be a bad movie).

Yeasterday was another stunner of a day - so we went for a bit of a walk and ended up on the waterfront again - but this time I saw a seal and a penguin swimming about it the harbour - which was really cool - not everyday you see animals like that in the wild.

The went to checkout the Ngai Tahu Exhibition at Te Papa - we saw some of it - but remeber it's school holidays....so decided that we would go back on a Thursday night and have a decent look when it's not so packed!

Then we went home and did some crafting for the rest of the afternoon....yah....I love crafting:)

In the evening caught up with Nankz and Ross at Midnight Expresso - was good to see both of those guys and have a bit of a chat:) Also when we were there we managed to pick up a booklet about some of the activist groups about town - including a feminist group so I may check them out.

Well this is a big entry and I should really go and get organised - I am going to QUEENSTOWN today so I need to finish off my packing and head to work!

Thank God it's FRIDAY

Yah it's Friday - although I don't feel like I have really done that much this week. It's partly due to the fact I haven't been able to go to the gym this week as I don't want to aggrevate my now slightly dodgy neck. But I'm seeing the physio guy today and hopefully he will give me the all clear and I can go back to my normal routine.

Sarah's down in Wellington this weekend from Auckland so it will be cool to catch up with her again. We are having a bit of a girls dinner tonight with me, Sarah, Nat, Celia, Jess, Georgie and on of Celia's friends - unfortunalty Ange can't come but that's ok I saw her yesterday for lunch and finally gave her the birthday pressie I bought her up in Auckland and she really seemed to like it - which is good.

I'm not sure what I am up to for the rest of the weekend - there may be something happening at Celia's tommorrow night - if not - Rich and I can always just go out together.

On Sunday if the weather has changed (If it finally stops raining!!) I'd like to go on another day walk as the one we did last week was awesome. Also catching up with Nankz and Ross on Sunday night for coffee:)

Also in the weekend I am finally getting a haircut - I so need one and as I am a girl I love going to the hairdresser - I will also be using my money to pick up my docs at some stage.

All I can say is....Roll on 5 o clock...let the weekend begin already!

Birthday Money!!

I spoke to my Mum last night - she said she is going to put my birthday money in early which means I can finally go and pick up my 20 hole docs this weekend...woohoo!! I really wanted to take them to Queenstown with me and now I can.

Although I'm not looking forward to Queenstown as much as I was intially. My manager spoke to some people down there yesterday and apparently it's really cold with snow and everything and we will have to travel in cars via convoy as it's too dangerous for one car to go by itself and also we will only be able to travel about 30kmph. There will be some very long car trips I imagine.

I also heard from Marth last night and she said she's not coming down this weekend as it's too cold - I'm a bit bummed but I totally understand - she doesn't want to get sick again so wouldn't want to go outside much so would end up missing out on most of the city. That's totally cool because I don't want to go outside at all at the moment either and I live here!!

Yah for crafts!

My Neck!!

Well it turns out that I didn't end up going to work yesterday but I did manage to spend $120 during the course of the day on Doctors and Physio.

Somehow I have hurt my neck - one of the bones is out of line and it's making the muscles in my neck, shoulder and back hurt like hell. So I had one painful day yesterday.....on body and wallet.

It's feeling a little better now but I still have another physio session to go on Wednesday and if it's not all better by then he will have to crack my neck in - I seriously hope the physio doesn't have to to do that - the thought of the sound makes my skin crawl.

Skyline Walkway

Yesterday Rich & I did the Skyline Walkway - partly to exercise off all the yummy food I ate over the weekend!! It is a beautiful walkway - here's the photo's:)

Mid-winter Christmas!!

Last night was Jess' Mid-winter Christmas dinner and it was a really cool night - Jess had made a really big effort - right down to us all having personalised Christmas Crackers.

Anyways much like a real Christmas - at Jess' Mid Winter dinner we had....

A Christmas Tree!!

Lots of yummy food like this Christmas Log made by Ange!

Lots of laughs and general festive silly-ness and quite possibly too much to drink!!

My weekend so far

I am so glad it's the weekend!! It's been such a full on week at work I am so glad of the break.

So what have I been up to so far? Yesterday after I finally escaped from the office I met up with Celia and Jess for a drink - which was good because I hadn't seen either of them for a while.

I then went off to Belle's birthday party with my giant jelly - dessert parties are so not good for Weight Watchers but hopefully I haven't done too much damage this week. It was a fun evening though and they have an open fire at their flat so it was totally snuggly and warm and we got to toast marshmallows.

This morning I went and had brunch with Jaimee - it was good to catch up with her - we had a good gossip and she said she will come along to see our stall at kraftwork:)

I also did a bit of shopping in town picked up a few odds and ends to make some jewllery for the stall.

Well I best get organised and head off to the gym before it's too late to go.
